In January, we invited all local and some nationwide media representatives to Forum Shopping Mall, to share news about the evolution of our frisbee event in early July 2023.
Now we have registered countries from three continents and a few from the strongest nations. Japan registered with three university teams, which is a guarantee for the highest ultimate frisbee level, along with the registration from Colombia.
We have Mexico, China and Turkey delegating university teams to Debrecen.
Hungary can be represented by three squads, with the host city’s young team of Debrecen FreeBees.
Registration period has not yet finished, so participating nations’ numbers can still increase.

The Forum Shopping Mall also hosted a sportive weekend on January 27 to 29, with DEAC, the local university sport club, being the organiser.
Several sports were accessible for all local people to try and enjoy - darts, table tennis, basketball and of course, flying disc.
Debrecen citizens were eager to do and play sports all weekend long.
Heralding the July event, we invited people to play disc golf and play along with frisbee players.
This occasion was a forerunner of further flashmobs in Debrecen as the Trophy event in July is approaching.
We activate local communities in the coming months and invite everyone to be a co-actor during the first ever global university ultimate frisbee tournament.
Local people can not only be spectators and fans of the Hungarian teams, including the home team of Debrecen FreeBees, but they can compete in family or corporate teams to highlight a full city engagement for flying disc sport.

During the first two athletes’ workshops, frisbee players got to know subjects like presentation skills, vocal, verbal and body language communication.
Their skills in team dynamics, facilitation and conscious use of playful exercises all developed. We had an excellent mood and playful atmosphere, though focused on knowledge and practice.
Due to this very positive experience in our first workshop already, on January 27, the number of participant athletes jumped up to nine for our second meeting, as opposed to the four athletes, who originally registered for the course.
Dániel Gácsi, a participant athlete said: “What we learn here, is very important and useful in different situations of life.
“These skills can be learned and developed and we will need it when delivering our corporate workshops with Attila."
Also in January, we launched our athletes’ workshops, in order to develop workshop facilitation skills of Debrecen frisbee players.

Our partner, Training360 Ltd. created the proper content, to share knowledge and support athletes’ potential dual career.
All participating athletes will be part of our team, when delivering corporate events, family days and motivational team building workshops for local businesses.
The core sport of these events is flying disc, beside any other sports that is popular with employees.
Partnering companies will be part of the legacy of our July event, as they create a local network for DEAC sports club.
Through the cooperation of sport and businesses, this network will generate financial revenues for sport, by the sportive corporate workshops, even beyond our World University Ultimate Trophy.
On the other hand, sport will be used as a wellbeing element for employees of these companies.
Beside the athletes workshops, we extend our local network of corporate entities, to find active partners for the project.

“We have already fixed our first dates for corporate flying disc motivational events, where athletes will get practical experience and this learning-by-doing effect will develop their skillset for facilitation further.
To build legacy further until the event in July, we reach out for local communities like elderly homes, social care communities for people living with impairment and schools, of course.
We have our clear vision of Debrecen, as a flying disc host city, where people like and enjoy flying disc events.
Actually, that motivates our mission to involve as many local communities into our project, as possible.
We aim at more and more people participating and enjoying our flashmobs and other flying disc activities as a prelude of the Trophy.
In cooperation with the Municipality of Debrecen we prepare the spring season with flashmob venues, like Kossuth Square in the downtown with the iconic Reformed Great Church, the beautiful Nagyerdei Park Forest, where people spend their leisure time with families, or the imposing building of the University of Debrecen with the beautiful green areas around.
With athletes’ dedication and participation, more and more corporate entities open to enter into partnership, and the municipality networking capacities available, we believe Debrecen can turn into a keen host city for future flying disc events, be it global, regional or local.
